Once your hearing aids have been fitted and adjusted for your listening preferences, we recommend returning every 4-6 months for a routine cleaning and check of your hearing aids. During these visits, we will also look in your ears to determine if there is any build-up of cerumen (wax) that may be affecting the function of the hearing aids. However, you can have your hearing aids checked by us at any time. There is no limit to your number of follow up visits. Regular maintenance will ensure that your hearing aids continue to function well for you.
Hearing aids have small working parts and it is not uncommon over time for a hearing aid to need repairs. Signs that your hearing aid may need repair include distortion, low sound, or high battery drain. Some minor hearing aid repairs can be done in the office setting by our Doctors of Audiology. However, in certain situations, the hearing aids may need to be sent to the manufacturer for repair. Our Audiologists can help determine what kind of a repair is necessary if you feel your hearing aid is not working properly.
